The Castle restaurant is welcoming and contemporary allowing guests plenty of room to dine and chat. Our offering consists of fresh, local produce and features traditional and modern dishes showcasing some of the best ingredients from the garden of England. Our food is expertly prepared and presented thanks to Head Chef Jacob and the rest of the team. To complement our food we have a knowledgeable front of house team, lead by Lizzy, who are always on hand to ensure a memorable dining experience.
Our starter menu offers a delightful introduction to your meal, but can also be used in the style of a tapas menu. Selecting a few smaller plates for yourself or to share is a great way to dine. Choose a nibbling pot of olives and sundried tomatoes, spicy glazed chicken wings, freshly made arancini balls or one of our sharing boards. If you are in the mood to indulge try our house speciality: the Three Cheese Fondue with glazed ham & crusty bread.
The main menu is served all day and features a wide range of options, from our Castle burger, made in-house using dry-aged beef, to more adventurous options incorporating influences from around the world. Current menu highlights include a Tandoori spiced lamb rump with masala sauce, a vegan Korean bibimbap and a sticky glazed chicken supreme with sweetcorn puree and textures of chorizo.
If you fancy a sweet treat to top off your experience we offer a wide variety of homemade desserts, from the rich chocolate brownie to lighter options such as a coconut panna cotta or our own take on an Eton Mess during the summer months or a warming sticky toffee or dark chocolate and marmalade bread and butter pudding in the colder months.
We serve a traditional Sunday roast. To us this means: quality meat from the local butcher; large homemade Yorkshire pudding served with every meat; sausage, sage and onion stuffing; a good selection of seasonal vegetables; cauliflower cheese; roast parsnips glazed with honey during the winter; tasty roast potatoes cooked in meat juices & rosemary from our garden and all finished with our secret gravy. We also offer roasts for vegans, vegetarians and other dietary requirements.
A complementary breakfast is served each morning for hotel guests. All of our breakfasts are cooked to order with fresh ingredients and free range eggs from our local butcher. A full range of classic breakfast options are available along with a continental selection.
The Castle Hotel is justifiably proud of serving traditional afternoon teas in all their glory in our dining room. A perfect setting for friends to catch up on gossip or a mother and daughters to get together, a real treat for birthdays, baby showers, mother’s day or any day!

Your table will be laid with white table cloths and napkins, vintage plates & cake stands filled with a wonderful array of dainty sandwiches, cakes, scones, jam, fresh strawberries, double cream and lots of piping hot Tea and Coffee.
If you like to scoff cheese & port then you’ve come to the right place, there are few establishments that can compete with the standard of our cheeseboards, accompanied by a selection of crackers, pickles, olives & your choice of chutneys. Choose your board, cheese, chutney and maybe a decanter of port if you wish.
