The Castle restaurant is welcoming and contemporary allowing guests plenty of room to dine and chat. Our offering consists of fresh, local produce and features traditional and modern dishes showcasing some of the best ingredients from the garden of England. Our food is expertly prepared and presented thanks to Head Chef Jacob and the rest of the team. To complement our food we have a knowledgeable front of house team, lead by Lizzy, who are always on hand to ensure a memorable dining experience.
Our imaginative small plates menu is designed so you can indulge in a tasty introduction to your meal or pick from sharing platters and nibbling pots for more informal dining. Choose a nibbling pot, share an antipasti board but don’t forget to try our house speciality three-cheese fondue with chunks of country bread, vegetable crudité or glazed ham.
Our Head Chef Jacob designs the menu to showcase the best of British and European dishes with seasonal ingredients, using local suppliers and influences from around the world for inspiration. There will always be something for you, whatever your mood: from a variety of old favourites such as homemade burgers and pies to delicate fish dishes and seasonal specials.
If you fancy a sweet treat to top off your experience, we offer a wide variety of homemade desserts to tickle your taste buds. From the rich chocolate brownie to lighter options such as panna cotta or our own take on an Eton Mess during the summer months or a warming sticky toffee or dark chocolate and marmalade bread and butter pudding in the colder months and sharing chocolate fondue.
We serve a traditional Sunday roast. To us this means: quality meat from the local butcher; large homemade Yorkshire pudding served with every meat; sausage, sage and onion stuffing; a good selection of seasonal vegetables; cauliflower cheese; glazed roast parsnips during the winter; tasty roast potatoes cooked in meat juices and rosemary from our garden, all finished with our secret gravy. We also offer roasts for vegans, vegetarians and other dietary requirements.
A complimentary breakfast is served each morning for hotel guests. All our breakfasts are cooked to order with fresh ingredients and free-range eggs from our local butcher.
Take advantage of the juices, fruits, yogurts and cereals or hot options such as the Full English, eggs benedict or breakfast sandwiches. We also offer gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options with milk alternatives for your infusion teas and freshly ground coffees.

The Castle Hotel is justifiably proud of serving traditional afternoon teas in all their glory in our dining rooms. A perfect setting for friends to catch up on gossip or mother and daughters to get together, a real treat for baby showers, birthdays, Mother’s Day or any day!

Your table will be laid with white tablecloths and napkins, vintage plates and cake stands filled with wonderful dainty sandwiches and an array of homemade cakes, scones, jam, strawberries, cream and pots of loose-leaf tea and freshly ground coffee.
If you like to scoff cheese & port then you’ve come to the right place, there are few establishments that can compete with the standard of our cheeseboards, accompanied by a selection of crackers, pickles, olives & your choice of chutneys. Choose your board, cheese, chutney and maybe a decanter of port if you wish.
